Outline of Phases for Transitional Ministry Training
This two part training is a joint venture of the trainers and Amigo Centre, in consultation with Mennonite Church USA and the four Great Lakes area conferences. Phases I & II can be taken together, or separated by a year (or more).
Phase I Overview and Personal Assessment November 12-13, 2018 Registration requires a letter of recommendation for training from a conference minister, and the completion of a two-three hour interview prior to the training event. The individually arranged interview attempts to determine the extent to which the candidate has specific characteristics which will contribute to effectiveness as a transitional minister. Phase I training integrates an overview of and introductory teaching about transitional ministry with personal self-awareness processes. The intended outcome is greater self-understanding regarding as the nature and demands of transitional ministry. Instruction includes a framework for understanding pastoral ministry and leadership in the contemporary context as a foundation for the unique aspects of transitional ministry. There will be assigned readings to prepare for this phase.
Phase II Transitional Ministry (3 day Amigo Training Event) November 13-15, 2018 In-depth instruction in the developmental and process tasks of transitional ministry is integrated with critical incident case study triads and role playing. Extensive resources for transitional ministry are provided. The phase concludes with the development of learning goals and ongoing accountability and support structures. Three hours of future personal coaching is included in the registration fee. Phase I is a prerequisite for participation in Phase II.
Pricing: Phase I Training is $400, and includes:
the interview and written response;
10 hours of training
two meals, plus continental breakfast and one night lodging (if desired) at Amigo Centre
one hour of follow-up coaching after the event.

Phase II is $400, and includes:
15 hours of training
four meals, plus continental breakfast, with two nights lodging in Amigo Centre’s Retreat Center
two additional hours of coaching after the event
begins at 1pm on Tuesday and concludes at 12pm on Thursday
Phase I and II taken at the same time is $750, or a savings of $50.
Conference Ministers and other conference staff members may audit either phase of this training for $250, which includes similar hospitality arrangements.
